Fieldwork Begins for Restoration at 17 Levee Sites in California’s Central Valley Led by the CAPE-Forgen Joint Venture

We are excited to announce the start of fieldwork on a crucial levee repair project in California’s Central Valley. The CAPE-Forgen Joint Venture team was selected to tackle this initiative under the USACE Omaha District’s Rapid Disaster Infrastructure (RDI) Contract, a program designed for rapid delivery of critical infrastructure improvements across the nation.

Partnering with the USACE Sacramento District, the CAPE-Forgen team is working to restore 17 damaged levee sites across three levee systems that were severely impacted by recent rainstorms in the region. This project, part of the Public Law 84-99 (PL84-99) program, aims to quickly rebuild and strengthen the levees to protect local communities from future flooding risks.

Repair work is now underway and will be performed simultaneously across three separate levee systems to ensure rapid completion. The project includes clearing debris, excavation, the installation of geotextiles, and the placement of levee fill and quarry stone.

With a targeted completion date of mid-November 2024, the CAPE-Forgen Joint Venture is committed to restoring this critical infrastructure quickly and effectively, helping to safeguard the region from future flooding. Stay tuned for updates as we make progress on this important effort!
